How to land a jet in BF3
I know you’ve wondered if the jet can be landed. Well, it can. Here’s the proof!

kmoosman takes the piss out of modern shooters but you should watch this video for the old school rocket jumping bit at the end. Woah! 🙂
This guy should check out Quake Live if he wants to see how Quake would be done today.
I’m still at the stage where I just mash the attack and evade buttons in combat. The first video above shows a simple but better technique by evading enemies with jumps and the second one is the “Perfect Freeflow 2.0” achievement showing how to do the following moves in slow motion.
1 – Standard Strike – PS3: Square I Xbox 360: X
2 – Stun – PS3: Circle I Xbox 360: B
3 – Evade Jump – PS3: X I Xbox 360: A
4 – Counter – PS3: Trianlge I Xbox 360: Y
5 – Special Combo Takedown – PS3: Trianlge+Circle I Xbox 360: Y+B

8 – Special Combo Multi Ground Takedown – PS3: Circle+X I Xbox 360: B+A
9 – Aerial Attack – PS3: Circle, Left Stick+X, X I Xbox 360: X, Left Stick+A, A

I now wish Battlefield 3 wasn’t coming out on Friday as I won’t have time to devote to this amazing and beautiful game!
Bonus link: Combat, Gadgets, Upgrades, Riddler Challenges, and More!
Anyone I’ve spoken loves the game though I did hear something interesting about the ending 🙂
Looking over those button combos I don’t think I’d like playing this, I’m not a fan of having to use button combos during fight scenes. Apart from that it looks like a great game.
If you like Batman you will love the story in this one. I just came across the Joker and well, wow. Combat is partly button mashing but you can buy upgrades. Some of the actions above have to be bought when you level up, but you can activate a tutorial to help.
I have a tutorial on the critical hit upgrade activated. If you hit attack (square) just as you finish the previous attack you’ll get a crit. Do it wrong and a very brief warning flashes up. I see that a lot …
After playing the story 2 nights now I’m on a high each time, it’s like taking part in a Batman graphic novel.
I’ve got the first Batman here but have never played it. I think I’ll move onto that next once I complete Mass Effect 2. If I like it I’ll give this one a spin.
You don’t get that on Xbox….
One of the cool new features in Minecraft 1.8 was creative mode which allows you to fly around and build things without running out of blocks. It also stops you taking damage from mobs so I switched them on in the server for the hell of it.
Unfortunately the new mob, the Endermen, caused problems for David’s pyramid.
They kept robbing bits of it and moving them about! I didn’t want to disable mobs and thankfully someone created a plugin that restricts what the Endermen will pick up. After verifying that cobblestone wasn’t on the list I restarted the server and the pyramid was safe!
Pity about all the other structures made of “natural” material ..
I’ve only played the first two tutorials but it’s enjoyable. Can’t wait to try the split screen multiplayer! Video review above by the Cynical Brit.
And here’s the RPS review of the game. Jim gives it the thumbs up while admitting the game isn’t perfect.
Rock of Ages – Final Trailer (PC, PS3, X360)
Gamespot review
Rock of Ages came out a few days ago on Xbox and it’s reviewed here. It’s not too positive however noting how powerless the defences are against the boulder. Comments on the video differ though and there is a demo on Xbox 360. I have it queued to download so I might try it tonight.
If I get it, it will probably be on Steam. (More on RPS)
Edit: I should point out that discussions on the Steam forums (here and here) are more positive.
My only grudge with this review is that she says defensive units are useless, and if you watch the video review the player that is playing is getting knocked off & damaged on several occasions. That didn’t seem like “useless” to me.
Actually I was bested yesterday by a smart opponent when playing an online match. He used towers and blowers in a very effective way that I didn’t expect.
Oh, and here’s the review thread. It’s a sticky so they’ll collect the reviews there. Looks positive!
Well, I’m not sure, but here’s a list of features (and I read elsewhere that carrying a torch does not light your way, it still has to be placed) and there’s the video above which I found here.
That NPC village looks nice!
This is pretty exciting imo 🙂
Yeah, it is. The one downside is that to get some of the new features – biomes and possibly NPC villages you have to create a new world. I’ll have to have a straw poll on the matter for those who login to the server. Maybe link to the poll from the MOTD.
No doubt you’ve already seen the engagement video above but here’s a short live action movie called, “Portal: No Escape” worth watching too.

That was nice. I hadn’t, actually, seen either of these.
Wow I hadn’t seen them either and I’m actually blown away by the 2nd one – amazing!
Ah, glad I could be of service and deliver some new content then! 🙂

I managed it once on Caspian Border on the highway behind A flag although I crashed on take off again. Duck is also really good at it, I watched him the other night landing to hand the Jet over to Dave.

As I’ve said before, anyone who can turn those damn things gets my respect. I need a lot more practise in them!
