    L4D2: Help them up!

Lord of Angry mmmmmar person was a bit of a douche when we played L4D2 gibfest tonight. It was great fun until that guy joined. He was fairly useless, charging ahead and shooting us all the time.

We got our revenge when he got knocked down. Duck watched as his health slowly drained away. He wasn’t happy! 🙂

The Lord of Anger Management needed a lesson in not being an arse.

I love the democracy-in-action box on the left. IMPEACH! hahaha
You know, I downloaded this game months ago and still haven’t played it. Is there a campaign or is it all MP?

      • Donncha 12:28 pm on October 13, 2011 Permalink | Reply

There is a campaign you can play single player but then bots take over the other 3 members of your team. Playing the campaign with us is a lot more fun! There are quite a few different MP modes too, gibfest is a temporary “mutation” that’s active now. Everyone gets an M60 with infinite ammo.

        It’s bloody 🙂

Move Steam Games to another drive?

I have two partitions on my machines and the first one is always full so I’ve had to move games to the second partition from time to time. That means moving files and directories and opening a cmd prompt as an administrator to run mklink.

Well, it just got easier with Steam Mover. Nice GUI that uses xcopy, rd and mklink to copy Steam games to another drive.

It worked a treat moving 5GB of files over this evening!

Oooh, that’s going to be very useful. I have a new drive on its way and need to free up a load of space on my C drive so I’ll be definitely giving that a whirl. (is this the point where you say it’s not available for noobs running Windows?)

Does that mean i can transfer them to ps3?

I bought a 4 pack of Sanctum. I already have an idea of who I’ll give the extra 3 copies to, but if anyone that I play with regularly is really interested in the game please leave a comment here.

Not tweeting this post, only for those few of you who actually read this blog! 🙂

Edit: 2 copies gone (David and Duck), one left. RPS blogged about the sale, here’s their wot i think review and here’s TotalBiscuit’s review:

I’d like to know how you find the time to find all these games to begin with 😉

    • TheChrisD 10:21 pm on July 7, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Looks interesting, but probably not the kind of game I’d play too much, so if you had me in mind… maybe not 😛

    • Donncha 9:35 am on July 8, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I find lots of games but don’t actually a lot of them very often, unfortunately! I updated the post above with a gameplay commentary by TotalBiscuit and the game devs and another player. It’s long though, I’ve only watched 5 minutes of it but the coop looks good.

I’ve offered the last copy to someone, just waiting to hear back from them now!

    • Donncha 1:13 pm on July 8, 2011 Permalink | Reply

And Tye gets the last copy. Sanctum some night next week hopefully?

    Beat Hazard Ultra + Megablast

Woah! Beat Hazard Ultra is a manic asteroids type game where the tempo of the game is dictated by the music you choose. I picked 90’s classic Megablast by Bomb The Base. Great fun. The score above is nothing special, but the mix of familiar or favourite music and hectic gameplay is a winner!

The Steam Summer Sale has started. No sign of it on the Steam Store yet but there is a list of discounted games here and here too.

    Get those credit cards ready!

Make sure you keep an eye on this reddit thread which will hopefully be updated every day.

If a game isn’t 7% off or on a daily deal wait until it’s on a daily deal, or until the last day of the sale (about 11 days) to buy it as the game may go cheaper.

    • Donncha 6:52 am on July 1, 2011 Permalink | Reply

And this link shows what’s currently on sale, with the greatest reductions first!

    Respect the PC Gamers

It’s a well known fact that console gamers are scrubs, they’re abusive and unhelpful and rude. They’ll cheat and hack their consoles given half a chance. Isn’t that right?

PC gamers on the other hand are enthusiastic and helpful. They’re mature and civil about their communities. They delight in the strategy and skill required to use a mouse and keyboard. They never call anyone names and accept games as they are, because nobody ever does anything underhand. Isn’t that right?

Oh yes. Gamers everywhere are all the same. No matter what platform they use.

When I used to PC game I use to get so much shit for ‘camping’ because I must be one of the original sound whores. It usually went like this.
Me /moving from room to room *stops… can hear CLUMP CLUMP CLUMP of an enemy approaching. Follows sound, then *BLAM”.
dead guy in chat: u camping noob
me in chat: not camping, heard you coming. And if I’m the noob, why are you dead?

      Hilarity ensues.

The only platform that doesn’t have this level of douchery is the Wii (but only because it doesn’t have any real comms).

Ben There, Dan That! and it’s sequel, Time Gentlemen Please, is on sale on Steam for only 1 Euro or similar prices in other territories. It’s a point and click adventure but there’s a short demo of this humorous little game on the Steam game page.

Yes, it does have NAZI DINOSAURS!

Go grab the “Indie Variety Pack” if you haven’t already from Steam, there’s a sale on it right now until Monday.

So far my favourite game is Swords and Soldiers HD, Capsized is beautiful, A.R.E.S is ok but fiddly with the keyboard, Atom Zombie Smasher has potential but I only played a few minutes of it and I already had Machinarium (liked it but not enough patience to keep clicking on every single object in the screen to work out some puzzles).

I love the 60’s Batman type intermission in Swords and Soldiers HD. Lots of nice touches in that game.

    PS3 support appears in Steam

This is cool. Support for PSN has appeared in the latest Steam update. If you logout, next time you login you’ll see a dialog like the one above with an option for “Playstation Network Players”. If you click the “FIRST TIME SIGNING IN” button you’re brought to a page asking you if you have played the PS3 version of Portal 2, and if you have you can login using your PSN credentials.

If you have already played Portal 2 on PlayStation®3, you can sign in using your PlayStation®Network login.

Once you have signed in, you’ll find your profile on the Steam community includes information about what you have been doing in Portal 2. You’ll also be able to play your copy of Portal 2 on your computer by redeeming the code provided in your PS3® Portal 2 box.

    WTF is Dino D-Day?

I played Dino D-Day and I was slightly less than impressed. At the time (during the beta) there were only a couple of servers and only myself and another player between all of them. The Cynical Brit has plenty to say about it too however, hardly any of it good. (via)

I had a bit of fun playing this during the beta, but when I heard the price was $20, I really couldn’t believe it. Its the kind of thing that you get a couple nights of entertainment out of and that’s about it, maybe $5 I’d buy it.
