Call of Duty 4, not so much a “Game of the Year Edition”

I feared this might happen. I bought COD4 Modern Warfare off Amazon hoping that it would have a code to download the variety map pack but unfortunately it doesn’t. Looks like their “game of the year edition” is a cynical ploy to target those who do make that assumption. I’m not the only one. I love this comment from that page,

ya the map pack comes out to about $10 on the 360 as well. don’t buy it and just save your money for the sequel coming out this fall. we’re all pissed now, but once modern warfare 2 is in our hands, this map pack rip off will hopefully be a distant memory…

No doubt the forthcoming Black Ops will have it’s own map pack controversies. David asked if you’ll be buying that game or MOH but I think I’ll be holding on to my cash for now.

Disappointed? Yeah sure, but I’m looking forward to playing it later!

To be honest, I didn’t even know there was a map pack for CoD4. Every single gameplay you see is on the “standard” maps.

The map pack for COD4 was pretty bad so I’d save my money. Creek is terrible, Chinatown is a reskin of a COD2 map, Kiillhouse is a FFA only map and the only good map from the bunch was Broadcast.

I hate frivolous DLC, I was looking through my games last night and if I want to get all the DLC for the games I have I’d have to pay nearly €150, course most of it is crap. I don’t think I’ll need the Chronicles of Riddick extra multiplayer maps. But Bioshock 2 was the worst, where they charged for DLC that was actually on the game disk itself!!!

I had a similar situation with burnout paradise ‘ultimate box’, which turned out to be compelte bollocks, as it was missing 1.2gig’s of updates, all of which turned out to be DLC not on the disc that you had to pay for seperately. Complete bollocks

    Positive on COD modern warfare!

    image

It was pure luck but my first game of modern warfare in a long time resulted in a positive KDR!

Next game wasn’t quite so good!

Running and gunning in Favela in MW2

Since David posted a video a while back I might as well post this one here.

This game is from January 18th, shot on a Flip Mino on a tripod as I sat slightly to the side. I was wearing headphones so no sound except my occasional grunts and curses. I edited out the bit at the end where I stood up too quickly and knocked over the tripod. 🙂

Oh, and I can’t believe I missed that guy lying on the ground. I stunned him but thought someone else had finished off the job as he wasn’t moving.

I have a couple of observations on this:
1 – I’m jealous of your flickerless footage
2 – Your connection rate put you at a real disadvantage in face to face encounters
3 – Claymores: always place facing the opposite direction of your travel
4 – You give yourself the same unrepeatable ‘words of encouragement’ I use when I get killed

      Thanks for sharing.

The Flip Mino is a really nice and simple HD camera, no zoom but it does the job. The original footage is actually much better but I reencoded it for uploading and looks like it suffered a lot. The original really isn’t that bad!

I cringe when I see how I placed claymores then!

Must figure out a way of splitting the audio from the headphones. In the old days I’d rip apart the headphone cables, cut the ends off some earphones and splice the cables together but I should just go for a 2 into 1 connector to make life simpler!

And thank you for commenting. Must record another one of these!

A two into one splitter is always easier, but there’s something satisfying about braiding together a load of other cables to create a Frankenstein masterpiece.
