Galaxy Domination for Android still lives!

One of the games I first downloaded when I bought my Samsung Galaxy S was Galaxy Domination. I played the game non-stop for weeks (well, non-stop in relative terms).

When I updated my phone I lost the game because I screwed up by having a speed-up mod on it. When Froyo was installed the phone wouldn’t boot so I had to do a factory reset. For some reason Galaxy Domination was not to be found on the Android Market!

Luckily I found it this evening here where it has been released as an open source project. The .apk file is there so all you have to do is copy it on to the memory card and install it manually. Works a treat again! 🙂

Minecraft to appear on iPhone, iPad and Android

Woohoo! Looks like Minecraft will be coming to mobile handsets later this year according to Kotaku!

I wonder how they’ll distribute that, will current players have to buy the client again or will it be a free download, but requiring the Minecraft login (that costs money)?

    Quake 3 for Android

Kwaak3 and Kwakk3arena (xda forum thread) are ports of Ouake 3 to Android that looks interesting but do first person shooters really work on mobile touch screen devices? That’s one of the downsides to getting rid of the keyboard, but you could always connect a USB keyboard to your device. All you’d be missing is a mouse then!

I might get my old Quake 3 box out of the attic and give it a go, just to see it in action!

    Top Ten Android Games?

The Guardian games blog has a post listing some of the essential Android games users should play. My current mobile contract expires in about 2 weeks time so I’m looking at my options and it’s likely that I’ll buy an Android phone.

Three have the iPhone 4 at a reasonable price but it’s Three and I’ve heard lots of bad things about them.

    What would you choose?

I love my iPhone 4, especially now that I can jailbreak it.

I would hassle your current provider for a better deal first.

Me? I’m not up for renewal until December but I’ll be getting a Blackberry 9800 Torch.

It’s got to be the iPhone 4 all the way. It is leaps and bounds ahead of every other phone. I was looking at the contracts over your side and they are expensive. I paid £90 for the phone and then £45 a month which includes 1000 mins, 750mb download and unlimited wifi. I have heard 3 is rubbish with the network coverage but you have O2 over there and here is the page

They are out of stock but should have some soon. A friend in work has a HTC which is ok and my girlfriend had a new Sony X10 and sent it back because it was rubbish. The big difference in the phones is not the OS systems but I think the screens. The screen on the iPhone is unbelievable. It is very clearer and crisp and the touch sentiviative is perfect. You can type very fast and always hit the right button but on the Sony or HTC I was makin mistake often and that was the main reason my girlfriend sent the Sony back, the screen was crap.
The iPhone will cost you alot more but you are getting alot more phone for the money.
Another thing with getting and smart phone is you will always be on the bloody thing. I get told regalur to switch the phone off in bed and work.
They are great and recommend getting one but has to be a iPhone 4 not the 3GS.

I’m afraid O2 are out for me, there’s a coverage blackspot in my house. My wife is with them and has to go outside to make a phone call! (She likes the online text messaging site, can’t figure out any other reason for her staying with them!)

I may try to unlock my Nokia 5800 when the contract expires and get a Three pay as you go SIM card. Here’s a positive post about Three but suggests using a SIM to test the waters before committing. They do have the best deal on iPhone prices and subs though.

Some of the Android phones are really attractive. I’ve read reviews of many of them and I’m tempted. Got two weeks to decide anyway 🙂

Well, I have Three in Denmark and I have no problems with them. Not a big fan of the iPhone though, but that’s just personal preference.

From what I’ve seen of Three I’ll be steering clear of them. Meteor Ireland have various Android phones including the HTC Desire and Samsung Galaxy S. The Desire is sold out but Galaxy S can be bought. Most people who gave an opinion said there’s not much between them but that the Desire has better support and community around it, and that Samsung were crap at supporting their phones.

I discovered I’m eligible for an upgrade today. Good thing my wife has the car!
