Battlefield 3 has extra pre-order content

As seen here, in the Community Press Room, here in various other places this morning.

This was one of the Battlefield 3 images released yesterday but someone modified the filename slightly and got this image which includes the following information:

The Battlefield 3 Limited Edition includes pack Battlefield 3: Back To Karkand at no extra charge*.

This themed expansion pack features four legendary maps from Battlefield 2 boldly reimagined with Frostbite 2 physics, destruction and visuals.
Completing the package are classic Battlefield 2 weapons and vehicles, unique rewards, new achievements/trophies and more.
For those who don’t pre-order to secure the limited edition, Battlefield 3: Back To Karkand will be available for purchase approximately one month after the game’s release

So, either that was a smart marketing ploy by EA and the modified filename was leaked by someone there or this was a lucky guess. It’s not confirmed yet and there’s plenty of time to pre-order your copy. I should probably ask, “Who isn’t pre-ordering Battlefield 3?” rather than the opposite!

Every report of this “find” says “someone” found it, not naming who so I presume it was an EA leak.

Likely they just put the media/copy in place in preparation for revealing the info.

It’ll depend on how much the “limited edition” costs.

I’m pretty sure I’ll get it on both Xbox and PS3!

          New? On both consoles?
Is there some different between them?

New and yes. I doubt there will be a difference but I want to play with you, David, Mike and everyone on PS3 as well as Paul, TheFingersHurt and others on Xbox. Oh yeah, I’m a rich fecker, money pouring out everywhere… I wish!

    Bad Company 2 Onslaught

Onslaught has just been announced. It’s a coop game for Battlefield Bad Company which sounds really interesting.

Onslaught is bringing co-op gameplay to Battlefield for the first time on console. The new game mode puts you and up to three friends against the enemy on Valparaiso, Atacama Desert, Isla Inocentes and Nelson Bay – redesigned with new lighting, time of day, added vehicles and other effects. Each map has a dedicated gameplay focus, requiring different levels of teamwork in order to complete the objectives against an onslaught of enemy AI. Vehicle warfare comes to the forefront in Atacama Desert while Nelson Bay focuses squarely on infantry assault. Players can compete in squads and check individual progress via the dedicated Onslaught leaderboards.

(The video is nothing special, 1/3 of it is company logos!)

The one fly in the ointment is that it won’t be free. If it gets good reviews and if my friends on PSN and Xbox Live want to buy it I’ll probably pick it up.

Unfortunately if you’re on PC, you’re out of luck due to the way they’ve deployed/designed their servers.

Bad Company 2 gets auto balanced some more

It’s like walking a tightrope. Lean one way or another and you’ll get hammered when you fall.

EA are deploying their R9 servers and among the fixes is the following:

Autobalance improved, it shuffles people both during and between rounds now, and does a better job.

I hope so. Some of the games last night were so lopsided that rounds were over in minutes. I suspect there might have been one other squad working together, and David and myself in our small mini squad may have been bumped to the other side to shore up a losing team. Unfortunately we were overrun a in our last game I think and we noticed our team was 2 men down.

The best games are those that go on and on, and you have to fight and hold your positions with a team that’s doing it’s job. Again and again I saw team mates run past a detonating bomb without a care for disarming it. So frustrating.

Yup, that last game the attackers still had about 50 tickets left! There’s something really wrong when that happens. However, I’d rather not chop and change sides during a game. I like to be on one team and work for that team, not suddenly find myself on the other side. If you know you’re likely to swap sides then what is the point of trying to do well for your team……you may as well just kill whore 0_o

I hope EA don’t screw it up.

I wasn’t paying attention to who was on my team but it was very odd. Both teams seemed to be really good at attacking but sucked at defending.

Then again, I just remembered you noticed the other team were 2 down when they were defending so many there just wasn’t enough people online at the time. Perhaps the game engine tries to give the attackers the edge in numbers because in theory they have the more difficult job?
