Reviews for Duke Nukem have not been good. Here’s the Guardian’s one (including odd comments from zing defending the game, fanboy much?), and Alec over at RPS is live blogging the experience.

If you have it pre-ordered and it hasn’t come out in your territory, you should probably cancel that order right now!
I’m downloading Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition from gog.com. I don’t expect it to have aged gracefully but I figure I got so much fun out of the shareware version many years ago that I should give the full game a go. It’s only $5.99 too!
Is this in prep for the new Duke coming out?
oh yes! I played it last night and it was a nice walk down memory lane. Unfortunately I forgot my rose tinted glasses and didn’t read the manual to figure out how to change the controls so jumped into Mafia II later on. That, btw, is an excellent game. Had a lot of fun for a few hours in that, on EASY difficulty 🙂

You’ve probably already seen this but I’ve given up on trying to watch everything in my subs box these days. Not enough hours in the day.
The helicopter kill at 2 minutes in is awesome.
The trailer to the new Duke Nukem game looks good! If you don’t remember the first game from when it was first released don’t play it now. The pixelated low res graphics will disappoint, and they might even make you wonder what the hell was so good about it. Trust us old guys, it was great in it’s day and this trailer teases a great return for Duke on May 6th!
Oh, trailer is 17+, probably for all the pixelated nudity!
My guess is that the game will probably be okay but nothing special, but at this point I almost don’t think it matters. This game has been rumored for so long and so many people want it that I think we’ll just be thankful for something. As long as there are plenty of solid Duke one liners I think I’ll be mostly happy.
