Fun with zombies is when you dance with the last remaining zombie in a level and you go around and around. Poor guy gets quite angry. Yes, got it recorded, clip later 🙂

Forgot to mention, if you’re playing split screen combat training then you and the other local player are put on opposite teams. My brother called over last night and he has basically got zero experience with online gaming so the experience sucked for him. Only later did I realise that if I had a third controller I could put a “fake” player on the other team while we presumably played on the same team. Unfortunately powering up the Move controller didn’t count so I’ll have to find another controller.

I may buy another PS3 controller anyway because one I own is slightly broken, the rim of the left controller has split causing problems occasionally.

    COD Black Ops Updated

Good news today! Black Ops has been updated! Lots and lots of fixes in this patch but one I’m really excited about is one right at the end:

Additional fine-tuning of audio levels and ranges for footsteps and gunfire

Maybe now I’ll be able to hear the baddies in my headphones and Ninja will be useful. (Thanks Mike for the heads up on the update!)

(And please DICE staff, if you’re reading this. We’re still looking forward to the next installment of BfBC2 expansions. BLOPS is simply a stop gap until map pack 7 and the Vietnam expansion are released!)

Update (2010-11-18) The post linked above has been updated with 2 very important changes:

Improvements to the spawn system to resolve an issue where negative spawn influencers from specific game events were not always being deleted after the danger had cleared – in some matches, this was causing good spawns to be erroneously flagged by the game as bad spawns, which in turn forced actual bad spawns to get selected later in the match
Experimental slight reduction in knife lunge range – this is a trial change

    Have you noticed these changes?

      Hi mate,

Damien has asked me to ask you if this patch is on both formats (PS3 & XBOX) or just PS3?

      • Donncha 1:24 pm on November 18, 2010 Permalink | Reply

It’s on both AFAIK. I’d say the codebase on each is probably fairly similar.

        • dvotee 1:26 pm on November 18, 2010 Permalink

Ahh ok cheers. I did just click the link and it does say ps3 players but hey, he will just have to see tonight wont he….like I care mwuahaaaaaaaaa!! No game = so what lol 😉

Bad Company 2 is a great game, if you ever do get a PS3 you have to get this game. I have it on Xbox too but finding time to play them all is a problem!)

If I get a ps3, this will be the first game I get without any doubt. I need a good medic to show me the ropes 😉

    Black Ops TDM: Jungle

I went 17-6 in a game of team deathmatch on Jungle yesterday evening. One of the very few multiplayer games where I went positive but then I’ve only played against human player a handful of times so far.

Thanks Paul! Despite my misgivings I’m enjoying Black Ops 🙂

And on a related note, here’s an Enfield video posted by Swordsman75:

I feel like I played too much the first week, so I’ve been taking a little break from it. Haven’t played since Saturday.

That can’t happen for me! I only get a chance to play when my son goes to bed so that’s max 2-3 hours a night and I certainly haven’t had even that much lately. *yawn*

    Catching Boosters in Black Ops

Yes, another Red Dragon (the other one) video, this time showing a booster idiot in the Call of Duty Black Ops leaderboards. siebs12 is the offending player so if you play on Xbox please report him.

    Sad, nasty lag switch cheater.

how do you report gamers on xbox 360 live for cheating. it seems i can only get to the gamertags when a game is starting. do you go through the dashboard. also how do they boost it seems like evryone is moving at lightning speed. gamers seem to be able to run up and kill me befor i can say boo. its so anoying and the game is no fun at all. no one plays the game right anyway they just run around shooting what a waste i guesse its fun for them oh well it always people having to be a__holes.

      • Donncha 10:58 pm on March 15, 2011 Permalink | Reply

There’s a section of the dashboard, I think you go into some menu listing recently met players, select them and you can report them that way.

Those games where everyone’s running fast are hacked lobbies unfortunately. Get out of them when you stumble on one as it may do bad things to your Xbox.

Black Ops: How the other side play

It’s should be obvious to everyone but in Theater mode in Call of Duty Black Ops you can view the recent games of both friends and strangers alike. That means you can head over to the top players lists for any particular game type, view their gamercard and view their games.

Here’s a useful grenade throw from Havana I found by viewing a recent game. By luck I started viewing the game from an enemy player’s perspective and saw him kill getcrackin with a vehicle explosion. Ouch eh?

I think it takes a few days for games to appear in the recent games list, and/or it’s a buggy POS, but I tried finding the Nuketown game I played 2 nights ago but it wasn’t there. I wanted to see how that ballistic knife wielding barstool played. I’ll check later again.

I was shocked, but then again, he produces some great videos so that stopped me filing a protest message on your behalf.

I’m sure he’d change his Youtube username and gamertag if you asked politely. 😉

I think it was a glitch. Must have been. Damn hackers got to the theater too!

Interesting evening of Black Ops gameplay last night. I joined Duck, Garnz and Tye in a game of Zombies. Apparently I was Castro and everyone got a kick out of seeing me dive to prone. We also played Dead Ops Arcade too which was fun, before finally settling into some games of Battlefield Training.
The DCRUColin bot proved too much for some of us, but the Sasben bot was my pick of the AI players!

    • getcrackin 7:37 am on November 15, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I thought you had to unlock the Castro character from the campaign first (or use the cheat) …and DOA can be multiplayer? How did you do in zombie mode?

    • Donncha 8:09 am on November 15, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I think Duck was leading the party and he tweeted that he finished the game yesterday, so he either unlocked it or used the terminal code. Either way doesn’t matter, I hope he was recording. It was a blast to see those famous faces! I was rendering that BC2 video al evening.

We didn’t do too well, got to level 7 but did ok in arcade mode! I think DOA was just another mode in the zombie menu because we didn’t have to exit it.

Busy finishing the campaign on sunday to join you. Will be up for that tonight.

    Dead Ops Arcade

A secret top-down shooter ala Smash TV is hidden in Call of Duty Black Ops. If the video above disappears try this search to find it. Must give this a go! (via)

There are also lots of other things you can type into that terminal too!

Smash Tv is an easter egg in Black Ops? No way!

God, I’d forgotten I’d posted this. I think I only played this once and haven’t played BLOPS in weeks anyway. Damn BfBC2 and their map packs and expansions! That and Steam and their sale, and more importantly family life!

Note to self: when one’s team gets slaughtered in a game of Call of Duty Black Ops TDM, BACK OUT OF THE LOBBY. Just because it’s a new game doesn’t mean the other team will suddenly grow old and their God-like reactions will suddenly disappear.

Still, I went positive in one game on Radiation and that was fun. Thank Duck, Conor, Nick and Mike for playing!

    • getcrackin 5:36 am on November 14, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I did soooo bad the game after you left. 11-23 or something like that. Duck said he was gonna record the game since he did well, which I think means he’s going to post it. Strangely, I did better on my own, though I definitely had more fun playing with you guys.

      • Donncha 7:58 am on November 14, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Ouch, the last two games we played were really bad. I think I deleted the recordings as I knew I didn’t want to watch that ballistic knife guy kill me one more time.

Is ballistic knife+ghost+lightweight the new commando?

        • getcrackin 9:57 am on November 14, 2010 Permalink

It feels like it sometimes, but that thing is hard to use. So, if they can successfully wield it, then kudos to them -as annoying as they may be with their marathon lightweight.

    COD Black Ops: GRID TDM

Watch me get killed over and and over, and occasionally kill enemy players in this game of Bad C Call of Duty Bad Company Black Ops. I’m so used to playing Bad Company it’s second nature to write it!

Anyway, this was my 3rd game of Black Ops. In my very first game I managed 1 kill and died several times, second game on Havana was a blast and I did a bit better, and here I did ok, not brilliantly, but ok.
In a recent video Colin bemoaned the fact that he was getting a low 2+ KDR in the game and I wonder what good games are like for him! When I go positive I break out the Champagne!

Thanks Mike for playing, and wish I’d known that was really you in the earlier combat training game!

Next video will be Bad Company 2, and I have lots more footage and great clips to post from that!

    Black Ops: Sniping against Bots

Apparently Call of Duty Black Ops came out in Spain and Germany already, has it? That’s how this guy got to play against the (terrible) bots in “Nuketown”. This is the second Black Ops video I’ve seen on this level and the graphics in both really bug me, I prefer the gritty and “real” textures of well practically every other shooter.

I hope this was on easy setting, but the same setting in Bad Company 2 onslaught is far harder. Apples and oranges comparison perhaps but they’re all bots.

Comments on that video suggest that quick scoping has been patched already so it’s harder, good I guess. (via)

Wow, looks like a typically horrible Treyarch game attempting to feign itself as an IW entry in a franchise in which it has no right to be involved. Oh, wait…

      • Donncha 4:43 pm on November 7, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Get off the fence, how do you really feel about it?

On a serious note, I don’t think this level is a decent representation of what the game itself looks like. They’re probably going for that look in it but it’s too cartoony for my liking.

        • getcrackin 10:55 pm on November 7, 2010 Permalink

Nuketown looks cartoonish because it’s meant to look like a “plastic fantastic” neighborhood from the 40/50s. However, I don’t see it as a feasible place for battles to go down in, which just adds to how out-of-place the map is. So far, I haven’t been terribly impressed by the maps that I’ve seen and I’m wondering just how bad this background noise is that WoodysGamerTag keeps mentioning.

@Anthony your “oh wait” comment is preceded by the weakest non-sarcastic statement. I hate that ppl on the net like you are so unoriginal and can’t even execute an intelligent comment properly.
